Posijet® celebrates its 20th Anniversary: the Story of a Major Innovation in Nuclear Medicine
In 2006, at the EANM (European Association of Nuclear Medicine) congress in Athens, Greece, Lemer Pax unveiled the very first Posijet® concept, establishing itself as the world’s pioneering leader in automated radiopharmaceutical injection.
Twenty years later, at the 2026 congress edition in Vienna, Austria, Lemer Pax is now presenting the Posijet® in its “Cheetah” version — the fastest and most advanced version of this injector, which has become the reference in nuclear medicine departments worldwide. A look back at two decades of innovation serving nuclear medicine teams and patients.
The global reference in the field, the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) is holding its next annual congress from October 17 to 21, 2026, in Vienna. Visit us at booth 508 to discover all our innovations.
The 2000s: The Birth of a Pioneering Concept
Conceived as early as 2004, Posijet® was born from a clear ambition: to secure and improve the reliability of a critical step in nuclear medicine — the preparation and injection of radiopharmaceutical drugs.
Lemer Pax thus became the first company in the world to develop a mobile unit dedicated to this dual function: the first preparer-injector designed for fluorine-18 FDG PET scan examinations was born.

From the outset, four objectives have guided its development:
- reduce healthcare teams exposure from γ rays of 511 keV during preparation and injection;
- ensure the precision and reproducibility of injected activities for patients;
- secure and standardize the entire preparation and administration process, and enable communication with department software systems;
- improve and automate the workflow of imaging departments.

The 2010s: an recognized innovation
The second generation of Posijet® marked a technological turning point: ergonomics and mobility became the priority focus of development, gradually transforming Posijet® from a simple preparation laboratory into a true automated injector.
This generation earned Lemer Pax international recognition, marked by major distinctions: the Siemens Innovation Award in 2011, followed by the INPI Innovation Trophy in 2013. This recognition supported an international expansion strategy.

2016: Posijet® V3, the PET Injector That Revolutionized Practices
With its third generation launched in 2016, Posijet® established itself as the definitive PET injector — a true revolution in the field. Every evolution stems from ongoing dialogue with the field: feedback from technologists, radiopharmacists, and nuclear medicine physicians directly shapes engineering decisions, keeping the device closely aligned with real-world use.
It was the most profound transformation the system had ever undergone: a new design with optimized dimensions and weight, an interface and ergonomics rethought down to the smallest detail, ever more comprehensive and advanced features, motorized assistance for unprecedented maneuverability, and, above all, complete operator protection.

For teams previously using older systems, the change was radical: operators in the field were unanimous in praising the improvement in their daily working conditions.
The results speak for themselves: more than 2 million injections have been performed with the Posijet® system since 2018, with successful international deployment widely praised around the world.

2022: Posijet® Opens Up to Theranostics
In 2022, Posijet® reached a new milestone with the launch of its Therapy application: the system became a 2-in-1 preparer-injector, capable of safely covering both diagnostic PET procedures and therapeutic injections for Targeted Radionuclide Therapy (TRT) on a single piece of equipment.

This development addresses a fundamental industry challenge: the rise of theranostic procedures, driven by advances in TRT and the arrival of new treatments — notably lutetium-based therapies — requires nuclear medicine departments to have an ultra-secure solution tailored to these therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals. With a single system capable of performing both protocols, departments looking to launch TRT activities gain unmatched flexibility, avoiding the need to multiply equipment and investment to start a new activity.
2026: Posijet® Cheetah Shifts Into a Higher Gear
Twenty years after Athens, nuclear medicine has changed profoundly: ever more powerful and faster cameras, steadily increasing activity in departments, and growing demands on medical staff. True to its practice of listening to the market, Lemer Pax has evolved Posijet® to meet these new work rhythms with the Posijet® Cheetah.

Beyond mechanical improvements, the Cheetah introduces concrete performance gains designed to streamline every step of the administration process:
- Reduced time between patients: down to 2 min 40 sec between two patients.
- Faster dose preparation: between 30 and 40 seconds.
- Fast injection: less than 1 minute 30 per patient.
- Enhanced ease of use: simplified software, fewer clicks required.
- Multi-isotope compatibility: diagnostic and therapeutic protocols.
- Increased precision: for an ever more accurate dose.
- Unchanged safety: the same rigorous radiation protection performance standards that have built Posijet®’s reputation since 2006.
Twenty years of innovation, One unwavering standard
From Athens to Vienna, Posijet® has spent two decades without ever straying from its founding mission: securing every injection for the greatest benefit of caregivers and patients alike. It is this continuity, combined with a constant capacity to adapt to changes in the sector, that has made Posijet® the gold standard, widely praised by nuclear medicine professionals around the world.

Meet Lemer Pax and the Posijet® Cheetah at EANM 2026, October 17–21 in Vienna, at booth 508!
Our teams look forward to presenting this new optimization of Posijet®, along with our full range of radiation protection solutions tailored to your needs.
