Lemer pax unveils Aeroshield®, the new standard of lightweight, ecodesigned, lead-free and tungsten-free syringe shields

Carquefou – 14.10.2026

Remaining true to its mission of innovation in radiation protection and nuclear medicine, Lemer Pax is proud to announce the launch of its new complete range of patented syringe shields for low- and medium-energy isotopes: Aeroshield®. Developed using the innovative Super Green® radiation shielding alloy, Aeroshield® is entirely free of both lead and tungsten.

With Aeroshield®, Lemer Pax introduces a new vision of performance in radiation protection. Beyond the essential requirement of radiation attenuation, this new generation of equipment addresses key challenges facing nuclear medicine departments today: reducing MusculoSkeletal Disorders (MSD), improving workplace ergonomics, lowering environmental impact, controlling costs and reducing dependence on critical raw materials.

A practical response to market challenges

Traditionally, syringe shields are manufactured from tungsten, a material widely recognized for its radiation shielding properties but whose cost has risen significantly in recent years. Recent export restrictions imposed by producing countries, including China, which dominates global tungsten production, have further strained the market and led to substantial price increases.

In response, Lemer Pax’s R&D teams developed Super Green®, an innovative radiation shielding alloy designed to reduce dependence on strategic raw materials while maintaining a high level of protection.

The result is Aeroshield®, a range of syringe shields designed to meet the evolving needs of healthcare professionals by combining radiation protection, user comfort, eco-design, and economic competitiveness.

Super Green® represents a major advancement in the field of radiation shielding materials.

Its key benefits include:

  • Lead-free
  • Tungsten-free
  • Non-toxic for users
  • Reduced dependence on critical raw materials
  • Integrated eco-design approach
  • Lighter than traditional shielding materials
  • Ergonomic design that enhances everyday user comfort

Innovation serving workplace well-being

With Aeroshield®, Lemer Pax continues its commitment through its Stop MSD (MusculoSkeletal Disorders) initiative, aimed at reducing the physical strain experienced by healthcare professionals.

Being 40% lighter and more ergonomic than traditional tungsten syringe shields, Aeroshield® helps limit fatigue associated with repetitive handling while also improving syringe safety through a design that protects the lead-glass.

With Aeroshield®, we demonstrate that it is possible to combine excellence in radiation protection, improved quality of life for healthcare professionals, economic competitiveness and environmental responsibility. This innovation fully reflects Lemer Pax’s mission: to design ever more effective radiation protection solutions for healthcare and nuclear professionals.

Pierre-Marie LEMER, President of Lemer Pax

This approach fully reflects Lemer Pax’s commitment to helping healthcare facilities adopt increasingly responsible and user-focused practices without compromising safety.

A highly attractive cost-to-performance ratio

Beyond its technical and environmental advantages, Aeroshield® also provides an economically attractive solution for nuclear medicine departments, delivering outstanding overall value without compromising radiation protection performance.

In an environment where healthcare facilities must balance excellence in patient care with strict budget management, Aeroshield® represents a particularly relevant alternative.
