A manipulator based on nuclear experience for radioisotopes production

Introduction
LEMER manufactures a range of hot cells for use in the nuclear industry. For these applications the biological protection is very important.
Using this experience and know-how, LEMER now proposes a simplified light duty master-slave manipulator. The manipulator TAD is simple robust and offers numerous possibilities at a reasonable cost.

Radiation shielding windows

Principle
The Lemer Pax lead glass windows permit the visibility and the radiation shielding on hot cells. Their protection is equivalent to a 50 or 100 mm thick lead wall based on the energy of Cobalt 60 (other dimensions and equivalency are available on request).

Telemanipulable connect fittings

Principle
The telemanipulable connect fittings with integral flow Lemer Pax allow to quickly connect the different low pressure fluid pipes by mean of fitting and locking. They are specially engineered to the hot cells wall pass through. The connection is easily realized and secured, even when using teletong or telemanipulator thanks to the clip. The tightness of the connection is achieved by two o-rings, while the tightness with the wall is realized by the clamping of another o-ring.

Teletong shielded manipulation balls

Principle
The Lemer Pax shielded manipulation balls allow angular and axial motions of the teletong in the hot cells. Thanks to their design, those very low friction shielded balls reduce the manipulation effort to the operators. Those balls provide a lead shielding up to 150 mm.

Remote handling tong

Principle
The remote handling tong Lemer Pax allows the telemanipulation in hostile environments. Specially adapted for the work in radioisotopes hot cells, they are engineered to be incorporated in the Lemer Pax shielded lead balls. The head of the tong is easily disconnectable and interchangeable, and a screw knob allows to tune the opening and to lock the tightening of the jaws.
